Leaving the Part-Time gig I catch scanner traffic of Q316-15 making their pick-up in Keyser, WV. So I ride over to find SD40-3 #4005 leading 2 other EMD's... breakfast is going to be in Cumberland... I'm hoping the sun improves as we go east.

1) Q316-15 departing Keyser, WV. Eastbound at Bull Neck Curve.

2) Westbound at the Rebecca Rd., Crossing near Pinto, MD.

3) A view of the west facing motors at Bowling Green, MD.

... but we'll see them again.......

Listening to the scanner at the house, we start catching Q317-17 calling signals coming west out of Cumberland... with the #8578 leading.... so we head down to Dawson to catch them coming west.

1) Q317-17 with the same three EMD motors off Q316 from this morning but in a different order... plus they snuck a GE in the mix. Westbound at Dawson, MD.

2) Q317-17 stopped just east of the crossings in Keyser, WV.The 317 will hold here while U051 and B772 does their work in the west end of the Keyser, WV. Q317 will set out 54 cars for "tonnage reduction" and 4 cars for the paper mill.

Does that train still go through Grafton, West Virginia?

yes, they both do.

Yes still thru Grafton to Brooklyn Jct to Parkersburg to Huntington to Russell to Cincinnati. Interesting set of power Tim.Thanks for posting it.

Tom Boylen and I were able to chase the Q316 from Grafton to Rowlesburg, West Virginia. This train also included helpers shoving East, made for some pretty good mountain railroading to say the least. We were able to do this a couple times a few years ago
