Currently being repaired at the NS Juniata Shops. Damaged cab was taken off the unit a couple weeks ago and hauled to the scrapyard. 4001 will receive a new cab at Juniata and its engine compartment and other parts are in the shops being repaired. Unit is currently stripped down to the frame.

I haven't asked, but will it keeps its special paint or be painted in NS black colors?

Will have to wait to see what they decide when it eventually heads to the paint shop.

Been a win-win prediction between the same Sonic Bonnet scheme and Horsehead. Wouldn't seem to make sense to have a standard Horsehead unit in between two special schemes.

The powers-that-be who cared about such details have since retired and are no longer calling the shots. Repainting 4001 black makes more sense than maintaining a handful of oddballs in an-otherwise all-black 4000-class.

Might make sense to paint it black to avoid the oddball crisis, but how long will the other five go on before repainting. I say give it it's special paint back.

What other 5 units are we talking about? They were painted in 2015-2016. And just wait for 4001 to be worked on instead of asking questions. Just paint it black so people stop talking about it.
