CSX announced a whopping 72% increase in earnings over 2nd quarter 2017. Sounds great but revenues increased only 6% and freight volume increased a mere 2%.

So there was a whole lot of cost cutting, closing facilities, laying off of employees and eliminating shippers that provide "insufficient" profits.
