Eastern Railroad Discussion > Silent CSXDate: 08/14/18 06:45 Silent CSX Author: RichK Lately radio traffic on the CSX in and around Berea, Ohio has been sparse at best. Crews are no longer calling out signals and there is little talk from dispatch. Has anyone else noticed this? Could it be that CSX no longer requires signal calling?

If PTC has been enabled, there will be less chatter between crews and dispatcher because the crew can see on their display what's happening up to 6 miles ahead. What you may hear is crews talking to the PTC desk trying to figure why PTC is throwing up stop signals where no signal exists!

I've heard that term a fair amount recently... So far after 5 weeks of 3rd quarter of 2018 volume is up 4.3% YTD is finally on the up side at +0.3% Shows you how bad they were earlier this year..... obviouly this is carloads, so train count may be the same as we all know they are running longer trains Date: 08/14/18 09:56 Re: Silent CSX Author: march_hare For what it's worth, I hear very few CSX crews calling signals along the Mohawk in upstate NY.
