Something odd on Landgraff, WV cam
Author: MC6853

Okay, I know the "OMG I just saw this-and-this on the Choochooville railcam!" posts get kind of tiring, but I just saw something bizarre in Landgraff, WV that I don't understand...

At 7:17 PM, an uphill eastbound mixed freight went by the cam... Two DC units on the point, big train with exactly 100 cars in tow, usual three AC units pushing... Then, about 90 minutes later on the same track, the three AC units came back downhill, bringing the exact same 100-car train consist with them, with the two DC units still on the top end...

Why did this eastbound train just reverse back west? Might be a stupid question but seemed odd to me... Something wrong up the mountain?

If there’s a radio feed for the camera maybe that can help with your question.

Google search turned up nothing for a radio feed...

Doesn't seem to be an issue up the line since an eastbound coal load went by at 9:17...

It's a mystery I suppose...

i thought that westbound looked familiar...
i think it had power issues with the train

That train stalled between Keystone and Powhatan.  You saw them reversing back to Farm to get more power on the head end.

That is interesting and worth posting, especially because it doesn't quite seem like the kind of consist that would stall.

Same train went by a third time at 12:01 AM, going back uphill again with an SD60E tossed in behind those two DC-motor GE's...
