Good Morning:

I remember reading that the NS Harrisburg Terminal desk was scheduled to move to Atlanta today. Has that occurred?

Also, did the other desks in Harrisburg switch over this morning as well?

The East, Terminal, and Lehigh started in Atlanta today. The Mainline, D&H, and Hagerstown desks tomorrow.

I’m going to laugh when Atlanta has one of there crippling snow storms and shuts the city down. How will the dispatchers get to work?

There are at 2-3 new dispatcher voices for NS Southern Tier/D&H desk that have been in training the past few weeks. But a few experienced Tier/D&H hands are also making the move to NS HQ1.

The same way railroaders in Dearborn would get to work during Level 3 snow emergencies with a foot of snow on the ground.

Dearborn has snow plows, however.

Ah. Yes. The paper the railroads hand to employees allowing them to disregard what local government proclaims because federal law supersedes local law.

Does anyone know if they have a dedicated DR site? I would think so as that is prudent business practice.

Buffalo to Binghamton
Binghamton to Sunbury
Binghamton to Schenectady
Plus the Corning Secondary and Ithaca Secondary (until Watco’s new Ithaca Central RR takes over via lease).

Listening to the Harrisburg Terminal dispatcher channel and everything sounds the same. However the second trick dispatcher, a familiar voice, mentioned that this is his first day in Atlanta.

Is NS eliminating regional offices and dispatching? 

If I heard correctly at around 0615 this morning, the Harrisburg-based D&H desk issued its last TAs to freight 11Z-10 as it departed south from Binghamton headed for Enola. As of 0700 turnover, Atlanta-based personnel will handle D&H ops going forward. End of an era...

Did any of the D&H dispatchers who signed on with NS make the move to Atlanta?

Two moves in five? years have to be tough on families

THe paper exists and is given to employees when needed.

They get some wicked ice a few times every year, too.

Monumental traffic messes with an eighth of an inch of snow when I was there in the 1980s.
