Eastern Railroad Discussion > Worst run-thru, borrowed power?Date: 11/28/18 15:22 Worst run-thru, borrowed power? Author: Lackawanna484 What's the worst power ever to show up for your next call?
Maybe a CN unit with no air conditioning on an August afternoon in Arizona? FerroMex in Michigan in January, minimal heat? Posted from Android Date: 11/28/18 15:36 Re: Worst run-thru, borrowed power? Author: engineerinvirginia Pretty much anything from Helm Leasing

Author: zchcsse On the average, BNSF has the best locomotives for crew comfort, IMHO. I haven't been in a CSX unit recently, but I recall them being a close second. Also, for crew comfort considerations, I'll take a modern GE locomotive over a modern EMD any day of the week

Although, I recently had a new EMD Tier 4 locomotive on the point for my first time (UP3027) and it was pretty nice. Much better in every way than a standard SD70m or an SD70 ACe. BNSF, (large gap), NS, CN, (large gap), UP, CSX, UP, any leaser. I dont get enough KCS engines to really know how they are like. Crew comforts. CN (in winter), BNSF, everyone else is tied down low with maybe CSX being the worst right now. (low back seats, on new power... in 2018.... really CSX?, even NS finally moved on and is geting high back seats) Date: 11/29/18 05:58 Re: Worst run-thru, borrowed power? Finally a little more about how EMD (or Progressive) new Tier 4 engines are. I've been wondering for awhile what these units are like and how they have been doing being that they are essentially new designs. Date: 11/30/18 10:10 Re: Worst run-thru, borrowed power? Author: NYC6001 I'll tell you my favorite leased power: A UP GP60 on a local I worked.
