Sounds like a good improvement. WMT is already a significant rail customer. FEC drops a cut at Fort Pierce most nights. The cargo drays over to I-95 center. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/walmart-wants-to-hire-900-truckers-and-pay-them-nearly-90000-a-year/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab6a&linkId=62738578&te=1&nl=dealbook&emc=edit_dk_20190124 Posted from Android Edited 1 time(s). But there's a waiting list for WMT drivers here in the Fort Pierce area. My guess is they'll hire a lot of owner/operators who are looking to downshift, and would like a driving job where they're home most nights. People may scoff at $90,000, but it's good money in many areas. Pay people good money, give them respect, and you'll do OK. 66 Date: 01/24/19 08:34 Re: OT Wal-Mart to hire 900 truckers Author: robj Yes, go out and recruit, driver pay and been in the dumpster. Still can be a hectic job. My son was just coming through 80-94 in Indiana during snow/ice storm.
You are worn down after that. Bob Date: 01/24/19 09:09 Re: OT Wal-Mart to hire 900 truckers Author: NYSWSD70M goneon66 Wrote:

It is a sleeper operation. Unsafe equipment and lying dispatchers and managers and a "figure it out for yourself" attitude are the biggies.
The higher pay is nice but eventually enough becomes enough and you jump ship. I always used to tell people who wanted to go somewhere else that companies are all the same the only difference is the name on the door. I always tell people the best deal is to find a private company that owns it's own fleet of trucks. That way you're pretty much an out and back driver instead of bouncing all over the place. Same as working for the rr seems to be one company is just as bad as the rest. Posted from Android Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/24/19 09:58 by ALCO630. Been there done that and never again. Posted from Android Date: 01/24/19 11:18 Re: OT Wal-Mart to hire 900 truckers Author: toledopatch As for FEC's business with Walmart at Fort Pierce, I was under the impression Walmart had pulled that business off the FEC a couple of years ago, after having started it up when diesel was north of $4 a gallon.
Date: 01/24/19 11:21 Re: OT Wal-Mart to hire 900 truckers Author: Lackawanna484 I mentioned this thread to two guys at the charity where I volunteer.
$90,000 is way above what's paid locally. These jobs pull about $50,000 plus benefits. And there's a good waiting list. It also boosts Social Security.

I also want to know what the source of that particular number range is. Counting how many people are residing and working in the United States illegally is a fraught undertaking. It's on Jenkins Road, near where the Turnpike and I-95 cross. Very visible from I-95, north of Midway Road Date: 01/24/19 14:20 Re: OT Wal-Mart to hire 900 truckers Author: altoonafn NYSWSD70M Wrote:
