Whippany/Morristown and Vicinity
Author: erielackawanna

Last month I had a chance to explore some of my old stomping grounds (from railfanning back in 1976/77 when I had ZERO idea how to take a decent photograph). While all those Norfolk & Western RS11s and RS36s are long gone, it's still an interesting location for a railfan. Sure, the Shop Rite is now a Staples, but the parking lot view and the Whippany station are stil there.

Image one is a former Maine Eastern FL9 parked at the Whippany station.

Image two is a Fairmont speeder at the same spot.

Image three is the former Texaco firless cooker.

Image four is a string of stored locomotives, a bit farther southwest, still in Whippany.

Image five is the Morristown & Erie shops from the Staples parking lot.

Image six is now in Dover, an NJT ALP46 in the yard that once was full of Lackawanna "Edison" MUs.

Image seven is another ALP46 and one of the rebuilt GP40s.

Image eight is in Wharton and is an ex BAR GP7.

Image nine is a SSB1200 in the same spot.

Interesting photos. The M&E image from the Staples parking lot is my favorite.

The M&E shop area is certainly compact and neatly arranged!

I like your photo of the Whippany Station with the ME FL9
