Maybe this Pan Am C40-8 needs a tune-up?
Author: JPB

On Sunday 4/7/19, a pair of ex-CSX C40-8s leads Pan Am Southern road local ED-8 (East Deerfield to Ayer with intermediate set-outs at Gardner for P&W and Fitchburg) at Gardner with Purplenose MEC7585 ominously belching out a tornado-like emission of black smoke as it slowly pulls the heavy train upgrade on yard track 4. Not sure MEC7585 is compliant even with Tier 0 standards of 50% smoke opacity!

It’s the time of year to smoke bomb the wasp and hornet nests, before the critters get active. Diesel smoke is really good for that, but getting a permit in Massachusetts is an issue.

If that were a diesel-powered 4WD pickup truck (probably with oversized tires), it would be called "Rolling Coal"!
