Dont have a link to share but saw where Natural Tunnel will be open on 7/20 from 1000-300pm so people can walk through.  NS will be there to give info on the tunnel, does anyone know if NS will stage a train for photos?   My understanding is this has been an event for the last few years

NS usually has a couple units or a short train for display also.  In 2013 they had the VIRGINIAN heritage unit there which was nice. It's a nice event. There is a chair lift down to river and track level.  Then just follow the path to the mouth of the tunnel.  During the event they open the tunnel so you can walk through it. It's on a sweeping "S curve" so you can't see straight through it.  There is also another short tunnel just to the south of Natural Tunnel.  It was formed by the river flowing and cutting it's way through millions of years ago and Southern saw the opening and made use of it, and the rest is history, so they say.  
If you are nearby it's worth the trip.

We've attended each year except one.  In the past, usually had two peices of power on display.  Last couple of years, only one.  Very nice area.  On the main road back to Kingsport, there's Copper Creek trestle, which in not so distant past was worth a trip by itself.

We'll be there again this year, bringing my three year old nephew who adores trains.

Is the date significant? Seems odd to do it on a Thursday. Saturday would have been nice.
