We started off in Piscataway (NJ) and finished by seeing some MOW equipment and one last train in South Plainfield. We ended up seeing seven trains in about 4 1/2 hours. Here are some photos.

4. CSX K161 with a BNSF leading looking more like a mixed freight after a pick up at either Woodbourne or Manville 5. The trailing CSX engine is still in YN2 paint 6. NS 22V with a new SD70ACC (standard cab SD70 rebuild) leading a relatively new SD70ACe (not sure if that one is a tier 4 or not) A few more to follow... Edited 1 time(s). After things started to quiet down, we heard the dispatcher talk to what sounded like an Oak Island Yard local get permission into South Plainfield. So we headed over and saw an engine buried in the yard along with some MOW equipment. Of interest was this boxcar that looks new and I haven't seen before. 7. NS MOW boxcar 8. Another look at the boxcar 9. Last train of the morning was NS 20E with a AC GEVO leading a DC to AC rebuild Two videos to follow... It started as an empty oil train out of Philadelphia, but with a freight pick up in either Woodbourne or Manville, the mixed freight is on the head end.

The one you caught is from the latest batch of tier III's, I believe labelled SD70IAC for individual axle. |
