Coal is still king
Author: mully

Its nowhere near what it used to be and has not been in years but it is better in the last couple of years for sure.  Here are a few images from the last couple of months.

Image 1.......Empty hopper train at Afton Va on the ex C&O mountain sub.   This line probably sees a couple of empty hopper trains a day and maybe a couple of empty grain trains.   The loads travel eastbound via the James River Sub.

Image 2......A westbound hopper train is crossing Cotton Mill trestle in Lynchburg Va.   This line usually sees a couple of hopper trains a day from late morning to evening hours.  The loads travel the Altavista Dist out of Roanoke due to the grades

Image 3......Westbound hopper train coming through Kinney yard in Lynchburg Va

Enjoy
