Back on May 6, thanks to the guidance/help of TO members, I was finally able to catch the Flats Industrial working. I got up before dawn and made sure I was at the Carter Road grade crossing on the Flats Industrial at sunrise to catch them shoving back with cars from the Norfolk Southern for Cereal Processors. Sure enough the bridge was down when I got there and after a fairly short wait, the train appeared at the crossing just as the shadows began to clear. They switched Cereal Processors quite efficiently and were done for the day, locked behind the gate, within less than an hour.

I heard that Flats Industrial is trying to expand and take over some of the mainline switching at nearby big yards.

Good catch, good looking paint scheme. I had spent those formative early grade school years outside of Cleveland but we would go into town for big shopping events. I recognize many of the buildings and bridges in the background.

The Oct 2016 issue of Model Railroad Hobbyist has an O scale model of “the flats”.   It inspired me to build my own slightly different version in O 048.
