A friend is going to Folkston Monday and Tuesday. How are traffic levels those two days usually? What are best times of day ?

Early morning has the southbound Amtraks 53, 91 and 97, CSX Q604, Q031, Q452, Q453, Q455 (both south and then north), A794, Q441.  Usually a late morning lull.  Early afternoon sees intermodals Q032, Q025 and Q026.  Early evening has Amtrak 98 and 53, Q220, Q237, A764.  Other autoracks, coal, ethanol and ocassional molten sulfur trains can come anytime. I may have missed a few, but this should give you an idea.  I have many videos from Folkston, Hilliard and Crawford on YouTube channel "Georgia Rail Videos" if that helps.

In short, it's down one-third to one-half from its peak. Still a good place to watch trains, though. And also the number of trains has decreased, the trains have gotten longer -- so the number of cars that pass the platform hasn't fallen by as much.
