Lifting 2716 tender trucks
Author: Baxtersta

As part of the preparation for the move of C&O 2-8-4 2716 to Ravenna on the 26th, the original tender trucks were moved from a KRM flat to a flat car being used by Ky Steam Heritage.  KRM's former US Army crane again did the lifting with volunteers doing the positioning. Despite the hot weather, this and other activities were onoing to ensure all was ready for the big event.  On an adjacent track, KSHCo volunteers were putting a fresh coat of paint on 2716 so it will be looking sharp for the move.

Very interesting photos.  Good to see events related to 2716 restoration are happening.
By the way, what is the story on the F Unit?
Thanks for posting the photos.

Oops, the location of this activity is at the Kentucky Railway Museum (KRM), New Haven, KY.  KRM and Kentucky Steam Hertiage Corp volunteers are in the final stages of preapring 2716 to move from its long-time home at KRM to the KSHCo site at Ravenna.  KSHCo has leased the 2-8-4 from KRM. The trucks being loaded are the original tender trucks.  Rotating end cap roller bearing trucks were subsituted under the tender as required by CSX to make the move.
Clinchfield 800 will lead the train away from KRM just as it did 40 years ago when the Clinchfield had leased 2716 for restoration which did not come to pass.
