Eastern Railroad Discussion > Tunnel Hill,ga ???Date: 08/06/19 13:36 Tunnel Hill,ga ??? Author: scoobydoobydoo How many trains a day still use this line,Is days best,Does anyone have any pics or videos,Thanks in Adavance Scoobydoobydoo
Date: 08/06/19 14:10 Re: Tunnel Hill,ga ??? Author: ShortlinesUSA About a dozen trains a day. Are you hard over on Tunnel Hill? If not, go just a bit more south and hang out in Dalton, GA. CSX and NS mains cross there, and you'll add a good 30-40 trains a day into the mix, and you and Mrs. Doo can have an enjoyable dinner at the Crescent City Tavern.

Date: 08/06/19 14:25 Re: Tunnel Hill,ga ??? Author: florida581 Tunnel Hill is on CSX’s W&A Sub. There are about 16 road trains a day plus a local. The following are the scheduled trains:
•intermodal Q028 Fairburn, GA - Chicago 59th St, IL Q029 Chicago 59th St, IL - Fairburn, GA Q142 Jacksonville, FL - North Baltimore, OH Q143 North Baltimore, OH - Jacksonville, FL Q154 Fairburn, GA - Memphis, TN (UP) •autorack Q210 Cayce, SC - Nashville, TN Q211 Louisville, KY - Atlanta, GA Q241 Walbridge, OH - Baldwin, FL •manifest Q580 Greenwood, SC - Nashville, TN Q581 Nashville, TN - Greenwood, SC Q582 Hamlet, NC - Nashville, TN Q583 Nashville, TN - Hamlet, NC •local A702 Dalton, GA - Boyce, TN turn There are about 4 unit trains of either coal, ethanol, grain, or limestone. But as previously posted, nearby Dalton adds the traffic from NS’ Atlanta North District which sees about 30 a day. Andrew Date: 08/06/19 18:02 Re: Tunnel Hill,ga ??? Author: Juniata I’ll throw in my recommendation for Dalton as well.
The Dalton Depot is as good a spot to train watch as any although from a sun angle perspective; late morning on is better as the sun will be overhead or behind the depot - this time of year anyhow. The local visitors bureau has their office in the depot so you’ll also have access to restrooms. There is an ATCS monitor in a window and the scanner feed is broadcast over a speaker. It's not an 'either or' proposition.
