Yes, this is "Old News"; it happened late Thursday morning last week.  But where did it happen .... exactly?

Mike McCullough of the The Panhandle News Network first reported:

"SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. — Several crews are responding to a train derailment in Jefferson County in the area of Route 230 and Whistle Stop Lane.The site is in the area of Route 230 and Whistle Stop Lane near Shenandoah Junction. Multiple crossings are temporarily blocked, according to a release from the Shepherdstown Fire Department. It remained unclear Thursday afternoon what caused the accident.The derailment is between the Harpers Ferry and Duffields MARC train stations. As a result, MARC Brunswick commuter lines from Washington, DC will not return to West Virginia this evening."

However, according to Dave Davies (ddavies on TO), the derailment happened as the 200+-car Q415, was climbing east out of Martinsburg towards Shenandoah Jct.  Apparently, a broken drawbar led to "stringlining".  The two derailment sites are some 10 miles apart.  Which one is correct?

"CSX train derails near Martinsburg  -  MARTINSBUG, W.Va. — No one was injured Thursday afternoon when a train derailed near Martinsburg. A CSX spokesperson said in an email about nine empty flat cars derailed at about noon.  The spokesperson said no leaks, spills or hazardous materials were involved in the incident.  Connector and Golf Course roads were closed to traffic while CSX officials developed a plan to recover the cars.  The cause of the derailment was being investigated.  — Dan Dearth"

Stringlining again......edicts to get trains built and out of a yard are causing bad placements of cars.....stringling and buckling are the inevitable results. 

Idiots (Rookies) running the railroad.  NS stringlines on Horseshoe Curve and now CSX on Couchman's Curve.   Two 100 car trains would keep the railroad fluid.  

Was this train a DPU?  CSX has been some trains with mid-train helpers
