That Chessie unit looks amazing, I wish CSX would do a heritage version of it.  My favorite paint job hands down

Considering CSX could have decided to sell or scrap the 8272, they went above and beyond taking it to Huntington Shops, repainted it (including the inside of the cab) and donated it to this museum.

Heard that the U36B was set aside from scrapping because it was thought it was the bicentenial SCL unit.  It was actually renumbered to #1813 I believe to make room for Red White and Blue #1776.   Waycross actually repainted it in Family Lines paint for awhile when it was a test unit there.   At some point CSX had them paint it in the CSX scheme it is in now.    It was nice that CSX saved the unit.  I am not sure if there are anymore U36B's left.

They both look great but the C&O is a real standout.  WOW!

CSX has teased us with some special paint jobs recently.  They repainted a caboose and presented it to the Kentucky Steam Heritage group in Revenna.  They have the resources to put some really nice locomotives out there.  It sure would be nice to see some heritage units.

Both are beautiful shots, but that 8272 is an exceptional looking locomotive! Thanks for sharing
