CSX 4077 leads J783, at Carlisle, OH, 9-13-19.  I have to admit that I hadn't thought about the locmotive's number until someone pointed it out to me.

Somebody at the power desk at CSX has a knack for setting up appropriately numbered units...
The last Ringling Brothers circus trains (the long time traveling 3-ring circus) were led by CSX #3333

Great catch made even better by the number.

These look like finished/refurbished tanks out of Lima. NS frequently sends hulks north from Anniston, AL to Lima. Does CSX always get the finished move? Are they headed back to Anniston, or perhaps another military installation?

Anniston does the initial refurbishment and Lima finishes them. These are probably headed to Sierra Army Depot in California for storage.

Interesting they are not in desert camo ???

If they were going to CA, it seems an odd routing as they were nearing Cincinnati in this photo.  Would seem more likely to head north/west to Chicago from Lima rather than to Cincinnati.  

It's CSX...so your mileage varies (and usually goes up). Since there is no road freight that works Lima, those cars would have to go south on the Lima/Cincy train to return north toward Chicago..its just the way it works.

These are the newest M1A2C (SEP v.3 ~ System Enhancement Package) out of Lima, OH. May be heading for very short term storage until the entire Brigade Combat Team of 100 is completely delivered this fall. At that point they will be assigned (likely already are but not yet released as far as I know) to a BCT & they will begin training on them. The US Army has options to upgrade another 335 M1A1 Abrams to M1A2C version.

A newer upgrade the M1A2C SEP v.4 (M1A2D) is slated to start testing in 2021. That will likely be the end of the road for the Abrams as Americas Main Battle Tank. Considering its been the go to tank since 1985, production started in 1979, thats one hell of a run as it could be expected to be the front line tank into 2050 & perhaps beyond. 75 years or close to it for a front line service military vehicle is remarkable.
