We're not very good about preserving 6-axle GE's in this country, but these pre-production Dash 8's are an important link in the story of GE ultimately surpassing EMD as the No.1 US locomotive builder. I think a case could be made for saving one...but as always it will come down to money, hands, space, willpower, and opportunity, not necessarily in that order.
