NS across Missouri severed by bridge collapse
Author: GenePoon

The Grand River bridge just west of Brunswick, MO on Norfolk Southern's Kansas City District (ex-Wabash) washed out
on Tuesday evening, October 1, 2019.  The bridge was a dam to a tremendous amount of driftwood, and under this
load and the swiftly-moving water, the bridge failed; though it did survive the massive "500 year flood" of 1993.

“Train service between Moberly and Kansas City, Missouri, has been suspended on account of the Grand River
Bridge in Brunswick, Missouri, being out of service due to a debris strike caused by heavy rains. NS
personnel are assessing the situation. There is no estimate on when the bridge will be restored to service.
Norfolk Southern is working with our interline partners to detour freight traffic over alternative gateways.
Customers with traffic operating to and from the Kansas City area should expect a 48- to 72-hour delay."

Thanks.  I don't follow the Eastern board, didn't realize it was already posted.

Scary...
