After the CMQ we headed to Waterville, ME and PanAm shops.

Then a switch crew pulled a cut out.
And we headed to Hinckley to find the local job coming back.

Then up to Pittsfield.
Then Northen Maine Jct where we got confused listening to a switch crew. Which way did he go?

Some foot work revealed this unit tied down.
Then we found the chatterbox. Shoving around and around. CMQ it turned out to be.
So, they weren't coming out anytime soon. We bailed out. The 2ft was on the agenda.
We showed up after the weekend steam fest. Didn't happen. Think they didn't have enough people to fire the engines. But we got a tour and I left a donation.

Coming along smartly.
Our guide mentioned Rigby yard had some access from the bridge. We found a open lot and I had a truck. Can't fly drones near an airport:)

Next day we kinda slowed down a bit. Shot the commuter rush in the morning, and had to change the oil in the truck. Did I mention how many miles traveled? I will.....
Afternoon a few more in better light.
Yard Job. Would you believe it? Ex QNSL..........LOL

Found the GE power we saw at the yard earlier. Tied down:(
Onward....Grafton and Upton had an F unit I didn't get to see the first time I was here.
The GP16?? down by the shop.
And the F unit. Next to the CF7 to boot.

A couple of the GPs didn't fare so well.
And two of the four MP15s......Move along, these aren't the droids your looking for......
Over to Worcester we took a peek at the P&W. Kinda shocked.

I have only seen two units in the Brown/Red scheme and when G&W took over I expected more orange. So we ran around at rush hour. Missed about 6 engines running around, didn't even shoot the CSX up and over to the left in the first shot.
Yard job in orange drilling cars. This was what I expected to see...We left.
Over the hill to Palmer MA. We looked high and low for the NW5 where it had been parked. So I asked a truck driver getting off work if he had seen a engine around here.
You mean the NW5? he says...........Almost fell over. Yup, hauled it up to Barre at the Wildwood loadout back in the trees. Light fading fast we boogied up to Barre. Never did find the trees.
Some of the best light of the trip though...

At Palmer some sage advice. We did. Found these monkeys with the proverbial football in hand?
We pulled up some chairs outside and sat and watched the cluster.......
New interlocking seems to be first come first serve. The freight was first and sat there for 20minutes before pulling. Uncovering the football:) DOH!!

Then the light power all came over the diamond. Then the  Connecticut Southern GP went across again and we see it peeking behind the Mass Central unit.
Stay tuned....There's more to follow.

Excellent set of shots. New England is home to the classics.
Glad you bagged the NW5.

The NW5 was originally Southern 2100.

Great set of photos! Especially the Waterville aerials of the odds and ends at the locomotive shops and the photo of G&U's new engine house.
