Eastern Railroad Discussion > Tuscola. ILDate: 10/15/19 11:05 Tuscola. IL Author: Fred Haven't been there in quite awhile, believe the tower is gone & there has been some track changes but how is the traffic thru there now? Still worth the stop?
Thanks Date: 10/15/19 11:31 Re: Tuscola. IL Author: kbmiflyer Still worth it, although if you have the time I think Effingham is better
CN line is pretty busy, you have 6 Amtrak's a day plus freights. UP line is also pretty busy. It feels like around 25 trains a day on the former CEI line. The former CSX line is rarely used (Eastern Illinois RR now maybe?), maybe 1 train a day each way. There is parking in the NorthEast corner along Central avenue, right along the UP / CSX tracks. CN line is just a little ways to the west. Date: 10/15/19 12:21 Re: Tuscola. IL Author: Fred Thanks for the info. Will be in Effingham fri nite, already booked a motel.
Thanks Date: 10/15/19 13:42 Re: Tuscola. IL Author: MyfordBrowning I think Fred was interested in the railroads and not the condition of the town.

Prior to PTC, the crossing was semi-automatic with the CN RTC having the option to lock in routes for the Amtrak and CN stack trains. Have no idea what PTC did to this arrangement.
