Some traffic as far as Waynesville, not much west of there. GSMR has the line west of Sylva/Dillsboro.

With the good traffic level, at least to Canton, why did NS give it up to a short line? Of course, beyond Canton there isn't much traffic and a tough mountain crossing at Balsam Gap. Maybe that answers it.
Is there anything left at the old American Enka plant? Rail access taken out although the bridge over the creek remains in place. Lots of talk about what to use the now-empty land for, no action yet. For those who don't know, at one time it was the largest rayon factory in the U.S.
