Heard NS had a wreck on the Pittsburgh line between Altoona and Pittsburgh today. Anyone know anything?

Sounds like one train rear ended another and another plowed into the derailment.

Greensburg PA
27X 21V and 20Q were trains involved.

Yeah, shoulda looked for news first; just east of Greensburg. The news is using Georges Station Rd as a landmark, which should be close to the old PT 318 signal bridge if I'm not mistaken. Both tracks completely fouled.

Approx. 3:25 p.m. at MP319 near Bovard.
2 intermodals and an empty oil train., oil train rearended intermodal. Other train was apparently passing.
At least 20-25 intermodal cars derailed.
Lead engine #9549 on oil train is derailed, has orange container on top of unit, and front end t-boned well car.
No injuries or haz-mat reported.
Pittsburgh media and emergency response(Westmoreland County/Hempfield Twp.) in high gear.

Z7X ran into the rear of 21V, when then derailed into the passing eastbound 20Q. Pretty mcuh sums it up.  

Crews are ok as all three were reportidly talking on radios.

The Conemaugh Line will be busy. Before long Amtrak should be comming west on the Conemaugh Line between Control Point Conpit west of Johnstown, Penna (Pittsburgh Line) and  the north side of Pittsburgh where the Conemaugh reconects to the mainline (Ft Wayne Line). From what I understand no one was hurt in the derailment.

Good thing they (PRR PC& CR NS) didn't tear up the redundant Conemaugh line. They all talked about it, I bet they wish it was still double tracked.

Must  not have PTC on that line.

Good question. I was under the assumption PTC was already operational on that line?

Can the Conemaugh line run stacks ?

wold have done Absolutely Nothing to prevent this.
