Eastern Railroad Discussion > Thanksgiving on the High IronDate: 11/29/19 07:22 Thanksgiving on the High Iron Author: tuxedorailfan 11/28/2019
The transportation industry doesn't stop, not even on the Holidays. Whether its trucks, railroads, ships, or air planes, the industry operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and 365 days per year. Unfortunately, that means some of us won't be home with our families for the holidays. That's one of the sacrifices that we make if you're in this industry. So as we prepare to enjoy a good meal with our families, lets remember those who aren't with theirs tonight, like my friend David Light, who had the task of operating NS train 226 out of Meridian, MS to Birmingham, AL this evening. Let's be thankful that we had the opportunity to visit loved ones today and be thankful for it, and remember those who can't. As you go to and from your relatives this evening, think about the train crews that are bringing all of our goods to and from major ports. Think about the truckers that are doing the same, including those that are miles away from their homes waiting to make a delivery in the morning. We often take these things for granted... We over look the men and women who bring our turkeys to the table for us to enjoy. Happy (belated) Thanksgiving everyone.
