Eastern Railroad Discussion > My First Banana UnitDate: 12/13/19 11:44 My First Banana Unit Author: tuxedorailfan The title says it all. I got wind from a friend of mine to my west that one of the Progress Rail Tier 4 ACe's will be trailing on the Shreveport to Artesia train on 12/7/2019, I was able to find the train in the siding at Meehan, MS waiting on a stack train. I was able to get set up at the old Highway 80 bridge at the east end of Meehan to catch the train coming into Meridian.
Of course the weather was dreary and cold, but the bright yellow unit made the day a little better. I must say that I enjoyed seeing and hearing it. These things are extremely quiet, and as I was getting my shot, the train was in notch 8 climbing the slight grade here and the GEVO was making more noise than the T4. All I heard was a faint chug and a whistle from the turbo. I've heard mixed reviews from the crews about these here in Meridian. It seems everyone enjoys them for the most part (because they're new), but I haven't heard anything terribly bad about them. They look sharp, in my opinion, and they're certainly a lot bigger than your average ACe. Either way, I hope everyone enjoys these. Thanks, -Dylan Date: 12/13/19 12:02 Re: My First Banana Unit Author: The-late-EMD Has the PTC equipment been installed on them yet?
