Thanks for posting.  This video reminds me of trips to Milwaukee during winter in the late 1950's and early 60's where the North Shore interurban from Chicago ran down streets with snow packed by automobile traffic, giving the appearance of a train coming down a street with no tracks to run on.

Does the NYSW run the street in Utica on a predictable schedule? I'm going to be traveling to Vermont soon for a family event and might be able to stop there on the Monday or Tuesday on the way home.

First run is usually between 9:30-11:00 M-F. Return depends on whether they confine their activities to Utica-area customers or run to Sangerfield, 23 miles south of Utica. Returns can be as late as 4-5 if they make the run to “SANG.”

Thanks! The fact that it runs both Monday and Tuesday gives me a little flexibility for the trip home, too.

Many years ago I chased a train from Chenango Forks to Norwich on Super Bowl Sunday, but I've never covered that branch at all farther north.

 

Fun video with great sound. Is it even possible for that contractor to even see if he's fouling the tracks when the street has been plowed?
