Asking for a friend. What's the best time to shoot the street running in LaGrange? Any particular traffic pattersns? Busy days? All info appreciated.

I'd tell the friend to check out the virtual railfan camera on youtube.  It should be a good resource for this question.

Happy hunting--Jeff M.

Difficult to predict.  I've sat for 3 hours at a time and no trains.  On another occasion, I saw 3 trains in 45 minutes.

There is a signal at the northeast end of town.  If all red, expect a train from Cincinnati.  If there are any other colors showing, expect a train from Louisville.  If it's dare it's usually a good time to grab a bite.  (One Nineteen West Main is my favorite eatery.)  The dispatcher might set up a route an hour in advance or just minutes before the train arrives.
