A 3, 1, *, 8 kind of day - 07 February 2020
Author: DTWilson

Three (3) of the trains we caught on Friday had #3100 series leaders with their number ending in 8.... hence it was a 3,1,*, 8 day....

1) #3148 leader of B875-07 on the west end of a 80 car loaded coal drag departing Keyser, WV for the Mt Storm power station.

2) #3158 on Q316-05 gets smoked out by the power on U051 shoving on the other end of the Mt Storm Drag.

3) #3178 leader on E740-06 with 3 other motors and 210 empty hoppers at 21st. Bridge Rd., MD. They would reduce tonnage by 80 cars at Keyser, WV before continuing west to Grafton.

130 empties west or 65 loads east without helpers. 80 loads gets a 3rd AC that will get taken off at Keyser and returned west to Grafton on the next westbound.
