CSX train IDs needed
Author: sums007

What are the trains that run in and out of Rocky Mount, NC and on down to Charleston, SC these days?  Has there been a reduction in traffic?

The list of trains is making me feel stupid.

What routing does CSX use for them between Rocky Mount and points in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan,  and Ohio? How is traffic between Rocky Mount and Nashville handled?

Appreciate it.

The trains to which you refer appear to all be grain trains, which I strongly suspect are routed mainly via the former C&O to Richmond except for the Nashvilles, which presumably run via Atlanta.

You're forgetting the H750/751 pair which, while ostensibly locals, are road trains in all but name.

You probably forgot

Q409 Selkirk - Waycross
Q410  Waycross - Selkirk
Q031 NJ - Jax
Q032 Jax -NJ

Thank you. Now I feel a bit stupid for not picking up on the grain trains.

Thanks to you and the others.  I was wondering if an intermodal would show up on the list.  There must be others, I would think.  Is the juice train still running?

Q037 / Q038 (Jacksonville, FL - Charlotte pair) and Q491 / Q492 (Hamlet, NC - Waycross, GA pair) run on the Dillon - Charleston segment.  And the unit juice trains no longer run.  The Tropicana traffic now rides on manifest trains.

Most often I see Tropicana traffic on Q032 northbound, and empties on Q409. If you're in Rocky Mount, you probably won't see Q032 in daylight there. Q032 is usually around Charleston between 5 and 6:30 PM.

The Olney/Lafayette trains most likely run south on the C&EI to Henderson KY then on towards Nashville. The Morristown train runs B&O to Cincy, then most likely south on the C&O.

Guess that G991 that loads on the UP at Allen,IL and interchanges at Rose Lake runs that way to Rocky Mount also?

No idea. I'm only familiar with the Indiana originating trains. I used to live in Morristown and Avon.
