A Perfect Morning On The KBS
Author: Ohiorailfan

Yesterday I stopped by the Kankakee Beaverville and Southern in Iriqouis, Illinois. A quick call to the office and I was presented with a choice. A southbound local to Lafayette or a storage move down the Danville line to Heaton. I tried my luck and caught both. The morning started with the 706 and 704 moving a long string of empty coal hoppers past the shops before shoving them off in the yard. The Lafayette train left once they cleared the wye so I followed them south towards Earl Park before heading over to the Danville line. I was able to find the storage move with the 704 leading and caught it twice before they got to Heaton. They had a string of matching red COER boxcars making for a nice looking train. All the units are classified as GP38-2Ms. Enjoy!

You sure do get around! Great photos. Imagine this is where NYC's James Whitcomb Riley once blasted through at 80MPH...

I read somewhere that those GP38s are ex-NYC GP40s.   I wonder how many trips they made over this line when it was NYC?

Very nice. It looks like the cabs are still sporting the names of the engineers.
