"Social Distancing" on Sand Patch
Author: cinder

Social distancing on Sand Patch in Somerset County, Pa is measured in miles not feet.   Saw or heard (at night) about 18 or 19 trains in 24 hours, including the truncated Amtrak's. which consisted of one engine and four cars.

1.  Westbound empty crude oil train around 7 pm on 3/26.
2.  A railfan and his three dogs chat (and bark) as the oil train passes.
3.  Westbound Q349.

7.   A "poser" if I ever saw one .... the dog I mean.  Note the hat on the local railfan.  His social distance is enforceable.

You are half-right DTWilson.  Actually it's the clearing for the Mance Mall. The marketing has already begun.

To answer Ken's serious question,.the scar on the hillside is clear-cutting of hardwood timber two years ago. Picture taken 12/2017.

Serving the greater Sand Patch area, including downtown Wittenberg, and the "almost" Callimont resort area.

Not the first time that hill has been clearcut, check out pg.199, top pic, in "Sand Patch;Clash of Titans".

You are correct bigsavage.  Below is the undated picture you reference in "Clash of the Titans" as well as mine taken three days ago.

3 tracks, so the B&W pic was taken after 1911.
