The FPF Is Hanging On By A Thread

A somewhat small sampling of daytime train activity on the Norfolk Southern Alabama East End District AKA “The FPF” (Foreign Power Funnel) in west Georgia during the month of March. Most of the trains listed below run during the “Dark 30 Hours” 

NS Alabama Division East End District Stack Trains
UP trains (17 a week)  with UP Power
22G / UP ILBNS Su, Tu, Th
225 / UP ZAILC daily
226 / UP ZLCAI daily 

KCS trains (24 a week) Often with NS Power Leading
219 / KCS IATDA daily
220 / KCS IDAAT daily
23E / KCS IATDA2 Th-Mo
24E / KCS IMYNS Su, Tu, Fr and IDAAT2 Th, Sa

#1. KCS unit #5012 ET44AC-T4 GE leads NS 24E Meridian, MS (KCS ISLNS) - Atlanta, GA east bound at MP 677 Temple Georgia. This stack trains origin was San Luis Potosi MX. 24E as a KCS train is on it's third symbol change since this photo was taken. ISLNS, ILENS (LEAL) and currently IMYNS (MONTERREY). 24E runs direct from Monterrey Mexico 3 times a week as IMYNS and direct from Dallas 2 times a week as IDAAT2. 

#2. NS Local A25 Douglas / Bremen Georgia east bound at MP 676.5 making their daily run east bound through Temple Georgia. 

#3. SD70AH-T4C UP #9087 leads this daily from the west coast stack NS 226 Shreveport, LA (UP ZLCAI / KCS IZLCAI) - Atlanta, GA through the “S-curves” west Douglasville Georgia MP 662.7

#4. KCS unit # 5024 ET44AC-T4 GE unit leads NS 220 Meridian, MS (KCS IDAAT)- Atlanta, GA pulls east out of the Lithia Springs / Ben Hill siding at MP 653 Lithia Springs Georgia.  

#5. A short lived UP symbol-ed train to the NS I26 Shreveport,LA (UP ILCAI / KCS) – Atlanta,GA east bound on the main at MP 664.6 Winston Georgia. This train has since been annulled by the UP.

NS #6902 Running “Southern Style” 

#6. Work train NS 946 South AGS Alabama – Branchville Columbia SC east bound at MP 664.6 Winston Georgia. 

#7. NS 946 through the “S-curves” west Douglasville Georgia MP 662.7.

Appreciate the disruption of NS black. As an FYI, both KCS photos actually have Tier IV leaders followed by older generation es44ac's. You can tell the difference by the slant of the rear radiator sections.

In your first photo, the leader et44ac has 4 radiator sections all at the same angle. Compare that to the second gevo, where the forward section is a much steeper angle than the rear section.

Wow, last time I will ever reply to any of your posts. A simple thanks for providing info, I learned something new would have been fine. But by all means throw the passive aggressive fake news bs comments out there.
