Canadian National Chicago Area Questions
Author: PRR_4859

Good Afternoon:

How many trains (if any) does CN run on the former Grand Trunk west of Griffith, IN? Any idea of the symbols?

Also, does CN handle any United Parcel Service (UPS) traffic out of Chicago? If so, what are the typical destinations for that traffic?

Thank you in advance.

There are not many.  There's at least L50391 which is the BRC Clearing Yard - Kirk Yard transfer.

Q19491 (Chicago - New Orleans) and Q19571 (New Orleans - Chicago) carry UPS, FedEx, along with other domestic and international containers.  Most of the UPS and FedEx traffic is set out / picked up at Memphis.

Andrew

Thanks, I was also wondering about that. I increasingly look at ACTS of the Chicago Sub alot, as I live near it. The connection tracks at CSX Junction from the Chicago Sub to the ex-GTW don't often get lit up for movements. Right now is actually an odd time where I see something lined on the northbound connection. For what little uses those tracks, I've been wondering how much of it is yard moves from the Chicago Intermodal Terminal.
