Eastern Railroad Discussion > CSX Pride EnginesDate: 04/07/20 18:57 CSX Pride Engines Author: MdRailfan I know or atleast been informed that the 3 fully painted "Pride" locos that CSX has are doing nothing but sitting in Waycross. It would seem to me with the coronavirus outbreak and the fact that railroads are still running, and all the services presented by these beautiful engines and the services being done the first responders, police, and the military that CSX would bring them out and move them around. Great PR. The CEO needs to get over his distaste for the authorities, as I think I read on here some time ago and start honoring the people helping keep his operation going. Any thoughts.
Date: 04/07/20 19:38 Re: CSX Pride Engines Author: Foamductor Where on earth did you get this conclusion from? You know there is more than one reason to store a locomotive right?

They left the museum in North East, PA and went straight to Waycross. They were displayed there for a employee event then placed in storage. One of the higher ups did not like the fact that the last one and the heritage program was leaked and ordered them stored. Rumor is there were also two completed heritage painted units at Huntington at the same time that were put right back into the paint shop and repainted in the regular CSX scheme. I have been told the same thing by MANY CSX employees. Date: 04/07/20 21:49 Re: CSX Pride Engines Author: Foamductor Store a multi-million dollar locomotive... because someone doesn't like a paint scheme? Not buying it...
And if its true, then yes... someone needs to resign. CSX decided to store a lot of units because of slow business, I don't see anyone complaining about other units going to storage. CSX is not here to entertain the railfan community. They have their reason for storing them, like it or not. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/08/20 05:28 by EL-SD45-3632. OK, but tell me who the bigger fool is; The people that like this kind of thing and celebrate its existence, or people who hate stuff like this and go to the trouble of hiding it from the people who do after it has already been done? When I see management decisions like this, I see somebody who is insecure and must tear down the efforts of others in order to build themselves up. Edited 1 time(s). That may be the motivation here, but that's so far an inside problem that it will never see the light of day! Except when Boom Boom does anything at all we will all look at him with jaundiced eyes! And how the general public looks matters not, so long as HIS boss approves... Date: 04/08/20 08:14 Re: CS Pride Engines Author: Asheville_G Yeah, but all of those other stores units are old....
These are brand new. They were also supposed to go to Nashville after Hamlet. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/08/20 09:26 by RayH. Date: 04/08/20 09:52 Re: CSX Pride Engines Author: Appalachianrails Food for Thought. Boychuk's mentor, EHH, let CSX cosmetically restore and donate an SD40 to the C&O Historical Society and a B30-7 to the Lake Shore Railway Museum. Last but not least, he allowed the complete restoration of Clinchfield 800 to be the star role for the 75th anniversary of the Santa Train 3 years ago. Word is that EHH even wanted to expand the Santa Train tradition to the rest of the CSX network as he had in mind the Christmas Train when he was at CP.

It's CSX's railroad and they obviously can do whatever they like with their engines, but it sounds pretty darned childish to me. But he wouldn't be the only American in a leadership position who fits that description. |
