FEC SB Freight, Bunnell, FL, Easter Sunday afternoon
Author: DocJohn

Based on posts on TO, one doesn't expect to see  much daylight activity on the FEC.  Was in the right place at right time to catch a SB intermodal at Bunnell, FL, around 3:15 p.m. on Easter Sunday afternoon.  Engines had LNG fuel tender betweem them.

Thanks for posting, but I had to look up where Bunnell is.  (About midway between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach).

Might have been the 101, given the time of day.

Mostly containers and trailers?

There is daylight action on the FEC - especially on the north end. Early morning and later afternoon.

Are Florida East Coast trains still generaly super long? 150-200 car rang?

Yes. The grades are very manageable, so trains can run very heavy

FEC often fills out trains with available cargo, so a train like 202 might have a hundred cars of stone, 50 cars of ethanol empties, some auto carrier empties, etc.  Two ES44 units and an LNG tender.

The 924 (IIRC) often rolls with a single GP40-2 and 50 cars of stone or sand. 50 mph
