My Recent Brief Visit To Altoona/West Slope Pa.
Author: ns1000

Hi everyone.

I made a short visit to Altoona on May 28. I saw NS 8099 and around 15 trains in approximately 7 hours or so.

Here are a few pics.....

Pic 1: NS 21J west at the Brickyard.

Pic 2: An EB manifest with 8099.

Pic 3: NS 21E west at Cassandra.  Follow the detour signs to get to the park now. The way off Rte. 53 is closed due to construction.

a few more...

Pics 10 and 11: Two from Juniata.  NS 1801 is in the one bay.

Thanks everyone for viewing.  At some point, I'm hoping for a longer, more extensive trip.

Nice bunch.  Cresson Steel is always good for interesting locomotive parts photos.

Were those units damaged in a derailment or some major failure ? I know they have some age but heck the sd40-2 is way older

No, those cabs are from units in the AC44C6M rebuild program.
