North Jersey 6/27
Author: RiverLineProductions

Today, June 27th, was a stormy day in North Jersey, but with a lot of good power out and about we headed trackside to see what we could get. Here are three of the best catches from today:

1. CSX Q434 Heads Northbound through Closter, NJ on the River Sub with a four unit lashup consisting of an SD70MACe, a YN2 AC44CW, an ES40DC, and a GP38-2. With the introduction of DPU power, I rarely see lashups of more than two engines anymore, so to see this was awesome, and the fact that it wasn't GEVOs made it even better.

2. CSX K685s power, consisting of an IC SD70, sits tied down in Conrail's Port Reading Yard in Carteret, NJ. We were hoping to catch them drilling the Motiva Refinery in Sewaren, but they were not, so we had to settle for this zoom shot of it tied down in the yard. Still, it was very cool to see my first IC unit after years of missing them!

3. After seeing K685s power, CR OI-16 arrives at CP-RON from the north with NS 1700 "Erie Lackawanna" leading the way in post-thunderstorm light. Truly a northeastern summer scene!
