What is the story in the old crossbuck at Linfield? Both videos are great!

The crossbuck is an old Reading cast iron one and on the property of the Railroad Street Bar and Grill a very popular local eatery in Linfield (Limerick).

Thanks for sharing! Great footage.

The second one interests me because of the configuration of the cars: all those light-weight gondolas, before that array of heavier ones behind? Seems like having them in an exact opposite order would make more sense, reducing the likelyhood of derailments.

Boy they are really letting the old Betzwood station go to hell. Does the park still own it ? I've heard you can't access it any more via highway. ---  Ken

Matt - the gons are loaded with steel slabs.  I believe they are from Russia.  Come in at the port in Paulsboro NJ, go to a mill in western PA

Dan,

I've never been in the restaurant, although, I really should try it.  I know they are known for their grilled cheese.  They have an entire section of their menu dedicated to a variety of grilled cheese sandwhiches.  And now with covid, there are tents in the parking lot for outdoor dining.  You can catch trains while you enjoy your grilled cheese!

Interesting, we’ll have to give it a try. The former White Palm, now Craft and Barrel in Topton opened this past Thursday and is only offering outdoor dining or take out. Their patio is a good place to dine and view trains too!

Ken,

The park still owns it.  When they stared work several years ago replacing the 422 bridge, they closed off vehicle access to the station parking lot.  It's used as a staging/storage area for the construction equipment.  You can park at Betzwood and walk a few minutes across the pedestrian bridge and access the station.  But you can no longer drive up trackside and park.  I'm guessing there is no plan to reopen the parking lot to vehicles.  Where the road used to be is now the pedestrian path that takes you from the bridge to Rt 23.

On occassion I've been down there when someone has ripped off one of the plywood panels.  If you think the outside is bad, take a look inside.  It's a mess.  Would need a complete and total gut job to bring it back.
