COFC business has changed
Author: Lackawanna484

The huge container ship CGM Brazil arrived in Port Newark / Elizabeth NJ this week.

15,000 TEU, two day stay, arrived with furniture, toys, clothing. The ship originated in Colombo, Sri Lanka and transited the Suez Canal. Calls at Halifax, Newark, and Norfolk.

Larger ships, originating ports in Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, calling on East coast ports. Good for NS and CSX.

Good when the destination is the midwest. If it is a metro delivery, rail is not a factor.

The Wall Street Journal has appended an update / correction to the article.   The Port of New York / New Jersey has now exceeded the Port of Long Beach in inbound containers, but remains behind iLB in total containers. Total containers includes outbound boxes.   That might explain the apparent rise in westbound empty boxes seen on the Fort Madison camera, etc
