Eastern Railroad Discussion > CSX locals still service x-WMRY trackageDate: 09/17/20 04:27 CSX locals still service x-WMRY trackage Author: bigsavage Although the Western Maryland Railway (WMRY) has been gone for 40+ years, some of its mainline trackage still generates revenue for CSX.
On Sept. 15, 2020, the daily D797 local from Hagerstown, MD. to Hanover, PA. has reached Highfield, MD. on top of the Catoctin Mountains, and will leave a cut of empty covered hoppers for interchange to the Maryland Midland, another operator of former WMRY trackage. The regular crew on this job is friendly to respectful railfans.
