Ok, Now This Is A Funny Sign, LOL!!!
Author: cornerfieldhobby

Ok, this is just to funny not to post here. Reason why I'm posting here is because, I was on my way down to see the trains and along the way saw this sign. Story goes like this.

This afternoon when I was on my way to go see NS trains, I went through Parkman Ohio. Well between Parkman & Garrettsville, I happened to notice this sign along one of the side roads right off Route 88. I took a double look and thought that was kind of a hilarious thing. So I thought when later by evening I would come back through I would stop to get a photo of that sign. I have to chuckle about it because the signs should be separate, (one for the weight limit for vehicles and the buggy sign for showing Amish Buggies take this road. But not together). Because the way it looks, makes people think probably Weight Limit of 15 Tons for Amish Horse Bugies LOL!!!! That's 30,000 pounds. LOL, no horse and buggy would ever weigh that much.

Back in 1996 my wife and I visited the north rim of the Grand Canyon for a couple days.  It was beautiful and not a s busy as the south rim.  We went to the south rim later and rode the train.  Nice trip also.
But to the story.  When we were heading out from the North Rim we ran across this sign.  Out west there are areas that are "Open Range" which means you share the pasture lands with the cows or whatever else uses the area. Plus if you hit it you buy it. So I'm told.
We thought that this sign was a little wierd, but up the road a couple miles someone had hit a cow and it was almost like the picture.  The legs weren't quite straight up and down but close enough.
Really a bolt had come out of the sign.

What's wit the white line across the road & the
leaning wooden triangle thing near the base of the yellow
striped sign?

I'm guessing the answer simple, but do the animals
know about obeying crossiwalk signs?

Maybe there's an opening in the fences on both sides of the road.

I like taking pictures of road signs too. While railfanning the Powder River Basin area back in 1990 we came across this sign near Wright,WY. As we came up over the next rise they were all over us. They seemed to be enjoying terrorizing the tourists.  I didn't want to piss them off, but I almost had to push them out of the way to get by. The last sign is just one of my favorites that I shot in Endicott,NY.  Fairly self explanatory !

Maybe that sign is for the farmer who is using a team of clydesdales.

This is just a guess because I can't get a good look at the white line, but it could be a painted cattle guard pattern on the road. I've seen these in various areas. Apparently the cattle think it is a real cattle guard and won't cross it. On the other hand, it might just be white line as a further alert for motorists that cattle might be crossing.

The "stripe" on the road is a series of pipes, rails or verticle planks in the road called a "cattle guard", the triangle is the end of a barbed wire fence. Cattle will not walk on the surface of the vertical rails so it keeps them in their grazing lands without a physical gate. Probably looks like a painted stripe due to the camera angle, painted lines wouldn't work, cattle are not smart enough to look at painted lines and think that it is a cattle guard!

Well, I beg to differ and offer this photo as an example.

Yes it was a cattle guard.  But the angle of the shot you can't quite tell.

=15.6pxI liked the STOP sign we had at one intersection with a NO STOPPING ANY TIME right below it.  Sounds stupid but it really did make sense.  There was a corner grocery there and delivery trucks would stop in front of the grocery and block the view of the stop sign.

Two of my favorites ...
One was for a blind railroad crossing where the sign read "Blinding Railroad".

The other was on a highway where a speed limit sign was missing. The "Radar Enforced" sign remained over a "No Parking" sign. Generally one doesn't need a radar gun to prove a vehicle has parked.

Tom enjoyed the sign. You really outdid yourself on that one. Loved the upside down cow too.
Take care my friend.

Whenever I see a sign with a bolt missing, I figure someone was partially in the process of stealing it but got spooked during the process. Those bolts don’t loosen themselves.
