CSXT (ex CR) Toledo Branch
Author: PRR_4859

Good Morning:

How many trains per day use the former Conrail Toledo Branch south of Toledo, OH? Also, how many trains use the connection at Galatea where it crosses the former B&O Chicago main east of North Baltimore, OH?

Thank you in advance.

Use to live next to the line just south of Toledo. I'd say back then (about 9 years ago) it saw about 6 to 10 movements a day. Not sure how PSR effected it.

CSX just reinstated a pair of daily manifests, Q630/Q631, to handle loose-car traffic that had under PSR had recently been appended to stack trains Q131/Q132 between Detroit and Avon via Toledo and Ridgeway. The Galatea connection is used by a pair of daily North Baltimore/Columbus intermodals and a pair of autorack trains, Q352/Q353, that run Chicago/Louisville via western Ohio to serve Honda at Pottersburg. So right now between Toledo and Galatea there should be four road trains plus the H719 local, and south of Galatea the road-train count should be up to 8 plus the H719 and whatever other locals they run out of Kenton.
