Stored Heritage Units

NSDash9.com is showing that the PC and Conrail heritage units are stored. Anyone know what's up with them?

It's eventually going to happen. Funny I was just talking about that to friend today. There's a lot of units in storage I'm sure that are newer or have been rebuilt since the heritage units came out in 2012. Get'em while you can!

The Conrail one has been in Altoona for a while, but I didn't know it was officially stored. I believe it had a spark plug issue

Older units are in storage. Most of the AC locos are in service.

The Conrail was "bad ordered" sometime back....

GE and EMD diesel prime movers don't have spark plugs, they rely on compression for ignition of the fuel.

If memory serves me right, the Conrail has electrical issues.

Maybe electrical problems with the glow plugs!

I’m guessing he was being sarcastic. I’m guessing an improperly trained engineer went and burned the clutch.

That's what happens when Juniata has seven people total on the payroll; anything with an issue gets shoved onto the storage line...

Maybe while the 1073 is there, somebody will scare up a can of blac-- er, Brunswick green spray paint to touch up its peels.

Of course the PC unit would have issues. It’s only natural.

Surprised no one has started screaming they need to go to a museum yet.

The 1073 is in the shop because it "done blew up".

Thanks.  The 1073 has had a bunch of sidelining problems over the years.  It was restricted from leading for a while, had a nasty oil leak, etc.

It definitely has one now! Most of the internal oil became external....

According to the Altoona Works Facebook page, 8098 has been tripping low oil alarms for some unknown reason (even though the oil level is correct).

Also of note, NS 6920 was involved in a grade crossing incident recently.

No worries, it can go ... along with all the other SD60E's.  Worst pieces of junk.  Thankfully they seem to be relegated to local service.

Lol...I'm not a fan of them either. Even having them on your local can mean a long day...
