Eastern Railroad Discussion > Chasing Seminole Gulf's Desoto TurnDate: 04/14/21 17:32 Chasing Seminole Gulf's Desoto Turn Author: Asheville_G While on vacation along the Gulf coast with the family I took the opportunity to chase Seminole Gulf's Desoto turn out of Fort Myers, FL. Here are three shots from the very productive chase.
Date: April 6th, 2021. Photo #1: A pair of former LMX B39-8's in the attractive SGLR scheme lead the Desoto turn across the Caloosahatchee river after departing Fort Myers. Photo #2: The Desoto turn parallels I-75 at Oil Well road near Gilchrist, FL. Photo #3: The Desoto turn crosses the North Fork of Alligator creek near Punta Gorda, FL. I haven't chased that line in probably 10-15 years, and I remember shorter trains.

They run the Fort Myers to Arcadia section Tues/Thur out of FM (returning the following morning before sunrise usually). Also, they have a dinner train that runs several nights per week. march_hare Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Great pix. > > Any more info on when and where this runs? I like to be aware of my surroundings. Some guys will be out in shorts and flip flops. Not me. Jeans and boots if I'm out along the right of way. Posted from Android |
