NS W series of trains

NS has a simple train numbering  series with locals , system wide, regionals etc.  Lately I have been seeing a W series  (W9G  and W3>)  through Altoona.  It almost seems that these trains are the combination of two trains  most often with a DPU set separating them.  Does any body know what these trains are and any listing that includes them

They are extras
M is extra 100
I is extra 200
W is extra 300
X is extra 400 
Y is extra 500
Z is extra 600s
Q is extra 700
S is extra 800
O is extra 900s

and R is extra 000s

Yes, there is a difference between O and 0 on NS symbolling, just as there is with CSX.
