United States Steel Corp - U. S. Steel Announces Sale of Transtar, LLC to Fortress Transportation and Infrastructure Investors LLC for $640 Million (ussteel.com) JG Date: 06/10/21 12:47 Re: USS sells railroad operations to Fortress Author: SOO6617 Interesting that US Steel reused the Transtar LLC name to sell its remaining railroad assests. US Steel previously used the Transtar name when it spun out the DM&IR, EJ&E, B&LE, and Birmingham Southern railroads, plus the Great Lakes Fleet. Transtar was later sold to Blackstone Capital.

But this sale is final consumation of what USS has been trying to do for years. If it's any hint of how long, there was a deal on the table several years ago to sell the Transtar railroads to RailAmerica, a long-gone company.
