Eastern Railroad Discussion > NKP visits D&H LandDate: 07/30/21 17:47 NKP visits D&H Land Author: train1275 Friday July 30, 2021
Got the word that the 30T had the NKP Heritage unit on it 2nd out. Didn't have too much time to plan or chase, so went down to Meadow Lane in Otego, NY around the corner from home and grabbed a quick shot. NS 9886 was leading the heritage NS 8100 NKP. First time I've encountered this one and the PSR gods must have been out to dinner as most of the time a heritage unit comes through I'm out of town. Well ... got this one, 2nd out or not. I've always speculated what might have happened if NKP and DL&W had linked up back in the 1950's instead of DL&W and Erie. Forner DL&W men were talking about that into the early years of Conrail. DL&W owned 15.27% of NKP stock up until 1956 when Perry Shoemaker sold it off. NKP was one class act of a railroad.
